First of all...i must wish YING HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Seen ur blog...Nice birthday celebration:-) Hope u did have a great time...Time really flies and We r growing old so fast...:( that's scary...
Florence, Italy
I took Trenitalia (Train) from Rome to Florence...
Collected the Train ticket which I had paid via the internet
On Trenitalia....encountered the same incident as SorJie
The train conductor said I did not validate (stamped the date one the ticket) my ticket and hence the tix which i am holding on to is not even considered a valid one...
Young Train Conductor: "Can u understand English?"
Yun: "Yeah"
Conductor: "your ticket is not validated, I have to fine u"
He pointed at some Italian words on the tix: "these words said that you have to validate your ticket before you board the train."
he continued, "ok, actually u have to pay a fine of 50 euro for 2 person for not having a valid tix, but now i can give u a discount, u just need to pay 25 euro for two person."
This senario was similar to that incident that Sorjie told me in Skavsta Airport. So being mentally prepared, I was able to show him my anger...Stand up for tourists...Feeling fumed especially after hearing Sorjie's story
Yun: "I AM NOT GOING TO PAY U ANYTHING, not even a cent"
I took out the train details which I had printed before I went on this Europe trip.
Yun: "Can you read ENGLISH?" I shot him an angry look
Yun reading aloud: " It wrote "In the case of ticketless, you will be fine 25 euro.""
Yun, raising my voice: " Do u know the meaning of "TICKETLESS"???"
think the train conductor was SCARED-ED by my Burning FIRE!!
WTH how dare he treated tourists like IDIOTs!!!
Conductor: " so you are not paying, ok, i will call the police"
Yun: "Yeah, go ahead, you should!"
The conductor left...didnt see him again...
so friends if u encounter the same problem as me...remember dun give in!!!!! Scold them back...
Not going to let this spoil my impression of ITALY..I mean the city itself not culture....
sometimes I feel that a lot of shops in Europe (esp the main cities) set prices that are so high..like they aim to rip tourist off... HAI!!!!

Florence has many Museums.Art Gallery.
We were not really interested in those so didnt pay to go in any...
Next day: Left Florence for Venice...
Had McDonald Breakfast..
They had stylo coffee...
One thing I Notice was that Italians drinks more Expresso than American Coffee...
and their take-away prices and their eat-in prices varies alot...
example: Take-away coffee cost 0.9 euro, eat-in coffee cost 5 euro....
Before we left, Kok Kok bought me Florence's ALMOND cookies which I had been eyeing since my arrival in FIRENZE...hehehe
Venice-->Here we come
